Total hip replacement is a surgery that helps people who have problems with their hips. The hip is an important joint in the body that helps us walk, run and move around. Sometimes the hip can get damaged or worn out due to things like arthritis or injuries. During a total hip replacement surgery, the damaged parts of the hip are removed and replaced with artificial parts made of metal plastic or ceramic. These new parts help the hip move smoothly and without pain. The surgery usually takes one to two hours. After the surgery, patients typically do not need to do physical therapy exercises. It is important to follow the doctor's instructions and take care of the new hip to ensure a successful recovery period with proper care and rehabilitation, most people are able to return to their normal activities enjoy a better quality of life after total hip replacement.
There are different approaches to take in order to replace a hip some are from the front, anterior. And some are from the back, posterior. Both methods have their advantages and disadvantages.
